Letters to my Daughters | January

Every month of 2014 I am going to write a little letter to one of my daughters, to commemorate this time with words and photos  🙂 I am joining up in a blog circle with some amazing photographers who are also writing sweet letters to their children every month… more info on that at the bottom of this post  🙂

Oh my sweet Olivia. You’ve only been here for four months but it feels like you’ve been part of our little family forever. In the hospital after you were born, I felt an odd sense of completeness. I already miss those newborn days. The night feedings and the sleepy haze. Sleeping nose to nose with you in our bed. The heavy warmth of your swaddled little body in my arms.

You really are the sweetest baby. You wake up in the morning and you don’t cry or fuss, even if you haven’t nursed in 12 hours. You just wiggle around until I go get you. When you see me your face lights up, you give me a huge gummy smile, and you kick your little feet in excitement. It is the best feeling in the world.

I took you to your checkup at 4 months and 4 days and the doctor told me you’re teething. Please stop growing so fast! You can roll both ways and you have finally stopped sleeping all day. You’re sleeping on my lap right now as I write this. I’ll miss these days so I savor every snuggle. I study the curve of your chubby cheek, your red eyelashes, the line of your cute little nose, your pouty bottom lip. I hope I remember these details forever.

You are my sunshine and I love you forever xoxo -mommy
